Hello! I'm Puja Das, the founder, developer, and primary content author of BillCalc. I created BillCalc with a simple goal: to make electricity, water, and PNG gas bill calculations transparent, easy to understand, and accessible for everyone.

As a software developer specializing in web applications and online calculation tools, I design and build practical digital solutions that simplify complex calculations and present them in a clear, user-friendly format. BillCalc combines software development, utility billing research, and transparent calculation methodologies to help consumers better understand their utility bills.

Why I Created BillCalc

Utility bills often involve multiple tariff slabs, connection categories, fixed charges, taxes, surcharges, and other billing components that vary between utility providers. Understanding how these charges are calculated can be difficult for many consumers.

I created BillCalc to simplify this process by providing free online calculators that estimate utility bills using reviewed tariff information while clearly explaining how different billing components contribute to the estimated amount.

My Role at BillCalc

I personally research, design, develop, test, maintain, and update every calculator published on BillCalc. This includes electricity bill calculators, water bill calculators, PNG gas bill calculators, and supporting educational content related to utility billing.

My responsibilities include reviewing publicly available tariff information, implementing billing logic, validating calculation methodology, improving calculator usability, optimizing website performance, and regularly updating calculators whenever significant tariff revisions become publicly available.

How I Review Calculator Data

Before publishing or updating any calculator, I carefully review publicly available information released by the respective utility provider or regulatory authority whenever available. Depending on the utility, this review may include:

• Consumer handbooks and billing guides
• Sample utility bills

After reviewing the available information, I configure the calculator's billing methodology and test it using multiple consumption scenarios to verify that the implemented calculation logic follows the reviewed tariff structure as closely as reasonably possible.

Billing Customization

Many BillCalc calculators include an optional Billing Customization feature. While every calculator includes pre-configured billing settings reviewed during the update process, users can customize supported connection types, tariff slabs, fixed charges, taxes, rebates, fuel adjustment charges, meter charges, and other supported billing components where available.

This feature allows users to estimate bills using their own billing settings, compare different billing scenarios, and better understand how individual billing components affect the final estimated amount.

Editorial Principles

Every calculator, guide, and informational page published on BillCalc is independently researched, written, reviewed, and maintained by me. My objective is to present utility billing information in clear, straightforward language that is easy for consumers to understand without requiring technical knowledge.

Whenever significant tariff revisions or billing policy updates become publicly available, I review the changes and update the corresponding calculators as soon as reasonably possible.

Commitment to Transparency

Transparency is a core principle of BillCalc. Wherever possible, calculators explain the billing methodology used and provide a detailed breakdown of applicable charges. Users can also customize supported billing settings to better match their own utility bills whenever appropriate.
